Packing a punch with style.
Startech, the division of Brabus that’s dedicated to British marques, has just churned out a full-on upgrade program for the new Land Rover Discovery Sport, just in time for the big Geneva International Motor Show in March. The new upgrade program includes everything from the wheels to the interior and even the turbodiesel engine packed under the hood.
The Startech Land Rover Discovery Sport keeps much of its off-road brawn but has a more on-road styling with the new OEM-quality PUR-R-RIM body work. Up front, a new addition to the fascia is installed on the lower portion of the factory bumper and features integrated LED lights for a more confident look.
The rear features a similarly-designed component that also attaches to the factory bumper. The new piece sports a special Startech tailpipe trim that perfectly matches the bumper’s contours. Above sits a new roof spoiler that extends outwards for a clean, aerodynamic style.
Part of the more commanding look of the Startech Land Rover Discovery Sport comes from the new set of in-house Monostar R wheels. The 9.0J x 22 wheels with 265/35 R 22 tires feature a five double-spoke design and can be finished in silver polished or black with polished surfaces. The example showcased at Geneva will be wearing an all-black finish. New Startech sport springs work are engineered for the new wheels and low-profile tires, and work with the production shocks to reduce the ride height by 30 mm. Startech also offers different spring options for other Discovery Sport models as well.
Under the hood of the Discovery Sport is a 2.2-liter turbodiesel inline-four that packs more of a punch thanks to the new Startech PowerXtra SD22 plug-and-play module that can be installed at an authorized Land Rover workshop in an hour. The new software tuning module increases output to 210 horsepower at 3,500 RPM and 339 lb-ft. of torque at just 2.000 RPM. That allows the SUV to reach 62 mph from rest in a relatively respectable 8.9 seconds. All that with a Startech three-year/ 100,000 km warranty.
Inside, the Startech Land Rover Discovery Sport can be custom tailored to suit anyone’s wishes thanks to the wide range of unique leather and alcantara upholstery available. Customers can also opt for a variety of wood and carbon fiber trim sets made to specification. Startech also offers new scuff plates with a backlit logo, velour floor mats, and an aluminum pedal set.
The new Startech Land Rover Discovery Sport will make its debut at the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show. A range of other products and options are also being developed for the rest of the Land Rover Discovery model range.
