The Mercedes-Benz CL and S500 get pumped up with Brabus PowerXtra Performance

Getting ready for winter.

Normally when drivers get ready for winter’s harsh cold and snow they put their nice cars in storage. Not at Brabus. In Bottrop, Germany, the tuner is getting ready for winter with a new upgrade program for the S and CL500 4Matic models that offer even more performance and style than ever.

For both luxury models equipped with the new Mercedes-Benz 4.7-liter V-8, Brabus offers two different tuning programs. The first uses the Brabus PowerXtra B50-490 plug-and-play module to recalibrate the engine’s ignition, injection, and electronic boost pressure. This results in 490 horsepower and 575 lb-ft. of torque, up from the stock 435 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque.

The second tuning option for the 4.7-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 is the Brabus B50-520. The upgrade includes the Brabus PowerXtra plug-and-play module and a new intercooler to increase output to 520 horsepower at 5,250 RPM and 604 lb-ft. of torque from 1,800 RPM to 3,500 RPM. This enables the CL500 4Matic to accelerate to 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h) when equipped with the Brabus Vmax unit and 220 mph speedometer. In addition to each of the tuning packages for the CL and S500 models, Brabus also offers a stainless steel sport exhaust system with adjustable valves and quad tailpipes.

Along with the added performance from the Brabus Mercedes upgrade packages, new wheels, suspension, and brake upgrades are available to make the two luxury models complete performers. The featured wheels are the Monobloc F cross-spoke design wheels from the “Platinum Edition” range. The wheels measure 9J x 21 all around and wear 265/30 ZR 21 Continental, Pirelli, or YOKOHAMA tires. Brabus also offers 19 or 20-inch Monobloc F wheels for winter with four coats of Liquid Titanium paint for durability. Behind the wheels, customers can order a number of high-performance braking systems. The most potent system is the Version IV with 405 x 35 mm vented and cross-drilled discs and six-piston calipers at the front, and 380 x 34 mm discs with four-piston calipers at the rear. An ABC suspension system lowering module can be installed on both vehicles to reduce the overall ride height by up to 25 mm.

The Brabus CL has a number of wind tunnel-tested aerodynamic options for models not equipped with AMG body work. The front features a new spoiler to reduce lift at higher speeds, while each side wears new skirts complete with air vents and LED entrance lighting. At the rear, Brabus can install a subtle trunk spoiler and new bumper with reflector and exhaust cutouts.

Being top-line luxury models, the S500 and CL500 can be complemented with a range of custom interior accessories. The upholstery department at Brabus can install Mastik leather and alcantara in any color with unique stitching designs. The stock trim can be replaced with special wood or carbon fiber in an array of colors and shades to contrast the upholstery. Customers can also choose to add a number of accessories such as illuminated sills, multimedia systems, steering wheels, and aluminum pedals.

The complete range for both the Mercedes-Benz CL500 and S500 is currently available from Brabus. The kits can be purchased as whole or as individual upgrades to create a custom-tailored Mercedes. Pricing has not been released.
