Bringing life back to a classic.

There’s nothing like a classic Mercedes-Benz model. Older Mercedes-Benzes are a classy statement in power and prestige, and still turn heads to this day. For owners of these vintage models or customers that want to bring their car to its former glory, Väth offers a full restoration program for all models manufactured after 1953.

To showcase their ability to transform, service, and overhaul older models, the company has fully restored a Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3. The Väth W109 underwent a complete transformation to showcase the German company’s abilities and services with the older models.

The Väth W109 300 SEL 6.3 originally came with the 6.3-liter V-8 M100 engine that powered it to a quick 6.5-second 0-62 mph time and top speed of 137 mph (220 km/h); both impressive figures for the time period. After time, much of the performance was lost due to normal wear and tear so Väth undertook a complete restoration, starting with the engine.

The process of restoring the engine on the Väth W109 and other customer cars begins with a complete disassembly and cleaning of all the parts. Then components such as the engine block, valve seals, and valve contours are milled, and then the cylinders are drilled and honed. The crankshaft was smoothed, polished and balanced, while the crank mechanism and flywheel were lightened for better performance. Väth will also install custom-made pistons and oversize pistons if necessary. Many of the components such as bearings, seals, chains, wheels, water pump and oil pumps are replaced. To ensure quality and reliability, the company will perform a full leak test, inspect for any cracks, and perform full computer diagnostics.

After all of the restoration, the Väth W109 300 SEL 6.3 was able to churn out the original 247 horsepower at 4,000 RPM and 376 lb-ft. of torque at 2,800 RPM reclaiming its lost performance. Väth also took steps to ensure that the exterior, interior, and chassis were refinished to its factory condition.

All of the restoration services performed by Väth on the 300 SEL 6.3 W109 are available for any Mercedes-Benz model built after 1953. The German company will alongside customers to complete any necessary maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on the desired model.
