Tuning up the Final Edition Roadster.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was a technological and motoring jump forward while paying homage to the past for the German automaker. It was a car that made a statement and quickly became a collector’s item. To say goodbye, they launched the Final Edition models in both coupe and roadster form.
RENNtech is still having fun with the super car even though production has ended with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Final Edition Roadster. The one-of-350 models was given a full RENNtech tune inside and out and makes for quite the sendoff.
Under the hood, the naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 of the Gods was equipped with a few goodies that make it sound better and go faster. Here, RENNtech installed a new set of stainless steel long-tube headers along with a HandHeldTuner (HHT) ECU software upgrade, leading to a total of 603 horsepower and 510 lb-ft. of torque.
Visually, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Final Edition Roadster benefits from a new RENNtech carbon fiber rear diffuser and side sills. These work to redirect airflow and improve stability at high speeds while adding a more aggressive look to the super car.
The looks of the SLS AMG Roadster also get some help from a new set of lightweight RENNtech forged wheels that were made specifically for the vehicle. The one-piece 10.2 Super-Light wheels weigh a total of 20.2 lbs. less than the OEM wheels, leading to better overall performance. Up front, the Brushed Gunmetal wheels measure 9.5 x 19 while the rear come in at a staggered 11.0 x 20 with 265/35/19 and 355/25/20 front and rear tires, respectively.
While it’s not an incredibly extensive upgrade program, these straightforward upgrades from RENNtech visually transform the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Final Edition Roadster and retain its incredible character.
