Cars & Art adds some excitement to the 997 Porsche 911

Adding a touch of fun to the now-outdated 911 model.

The first 997.1 generation Porsche 911 took a step away from the controversial broken-egg-shaped headlights of the 996 and built upon the water-cooled standard that the German automaker was now using. Cars & Art has developed a new upgrade program for the 997.1 generation models that adds a touch of excitement for models are now outdated and can be purchased at a reasonable price. The new upgrades add a touch of excitement to the aging model.

The new Cars & Art 997 Porsche 911 has a clean and sleek style to it thanks to a few upgraded body components. The German aftermarket company chose not to add on expensive and over-the-top upgrades on the 911 to keep things affordable for owners. An OEM GT3 spoiler lip was fitted to the front bumper to create some downforce and is attached to a newly designed bumper with integrated LED daytime running lights that helps create a clean look. The Cars & Art 997 also wears a new rear bumper with integrated diffuser painted to match the body color to keep the 911 stable at high speeds. Each of the side mirrors can be fitted with new covers to add some contrast to the exterior paint scheme.

In addition to the upgraded body work, the Cars & Art 997 wears a new set of shoes and more athletic suspension. The standard wheels were replaced with glossy black 8.5 x 20 front and 12 x 20 rear OZ Ultraleggera HLT wheels with 235/30/20 and 325/25/20 performance tires. The suspension was then upgraded with H&R sport springs that lower the center of gravity by 25 mm for better dynamics.

Many of the more “standard” 997-generation models were equipped with soft leather instead of grippy alcantara as with the hardcore track-ready GT3, GT2, and RS models in the lineup. To give drivers a sense of exclusivity and better control, Cars & Art can outfit the interior with diamond stitched alcantara. The soft and grippy material can be fitted to the dashboard, seatbacks, rear seats, center console, door panels, gearshifter, and handbrake for a sportier feel. All of the alcantara can be hidden from outside view with dark tint.

In terms of performance, Cars & Art chose to provide a minimal, but effective upgrade. The lone modification that is available is a sports exhaust system with flap control system that frees up a few ponies and lets the flat-six engine growl.

The Cars & Art 997 is available for all 997-generation Porsche 911 models. The program is designed to be affordable to owners as prices of the model are beginning to fall in the used car market.
