G-Power and their new BMW 1 M Coupe Tuning Program

One-upping the M3.

There was much excitement when BMW unveiled their new 1 Series M Coupe with as it was expected to be a reincarnation of the original E30 M3. But, for some reason, customers, owners, drivers, and every other automotive enthusiast with an opinion came to the conclusion that it didn’t quite have that special M touch as the rest of the model line did. So, G-Power has developed a new 1 M coupe tuning program that basically one-ups its older sibling, the M3.

The new BMW 1 M Coupe and its twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six benefited from G-Power’s wealth of knowledge when it comes to forced induction and making things fast. The turbocharging system is closely related to the ASA compressors used by G-Power in a number of their builds such as the M3 Tornado RS and Supercharged M3 GTS. This helped the team of power-hungry engineers create a reliable 1 M Coupe tuning system that produced a wide, meaty band of continuous power.

The new list of modifications includes a new set of flow-optimized downpipes and boost cooling system to help regulate temperate and reduce backpressure as much as possible. The downpipes are each mated to a lightweight titanium exhaust system with either four carbon fiber or titanium end pipes that reduces weight by 44 lbs. (20 kg) and can provide a motorsports-like sound by adjusting the valves. The finishing touch was a new Bi-Tronik V3 engine software upgrade that took all of the engine’s components into account and altered the ignition timing, fuel injection, and slightly raised boost pressure.

The result of the G-Power 1 M Coupe tuning program was a M3-topping 435 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 435 lb-ft. of torque at just 1,500 RPM. This enables the sports car to accelerate to 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 186 mph.

But it wasn’t all about the force-fed engine with the new G-Power 1 M Coupe tuning program. The chassis was also a major focal point and benefitted from a number of modifications, the most notable of which are the 20-inch, double-spoke Silverstone wheels. The wide, lightweight wheels were fitted with 255/30 ZR 20 and 295/25 ZR 20 Michelin tires for better overall grip and handling performance. Behind the wheels sits a new G-Power GM1-RS coilover suspension that gives drivers the ability to alter ride height and has nine-selectable bound and rebound settings.

Due to the greater acceleration and top speed capabilities of the G-Power 1 M Coupe, the team developed two types of braking systems. The basic steel system features six-piston calipers and 396 mm discs that utilize metal-coated lines and high-friction brake pads with a larger contact area. For customers that want ultimate stopping power, G-Power also offers a ceramic system that reduces weight by 50 percent over its traditional steel counterparts for better overall performance and fade-free braking.

All of the upgrades in the new BMW 1 M Coupe tuning program are currently available from G-Power. The Bi-Tronik V3 and titanium exhaust can be purchased for 10,238 Euros, the wheel and tire combo for 4,474.78 Euros, and the GM1-RS coilovers for 1,721 Euros. The front and rear set of steel brakes run 6,466.38 Euros and 4,785.71 Euros, respectively while the ceramic units cost 14,460.50 Euros for the front axle and 11,778.15 Euros for the rear.
