If you’re looking for a small zippy car to speed around Europe in, the Audi S1 is the perfect choice. Its turbocharged 2.0-liter engine is more than capable of blasting through narrow streets and winding curves with ease. ABT Sportsline was able to improve on the S1 in virtually every facet and make it even more of a hot mini-hatch.
The main focus for the upgrade program was the engine and the goal was to extract as much fun and excitement as possible. “The Audi S1 tuned by ABT is huge fun,“ said Hans-Jürgen Abt, CEO of ABT Sportsline. The 2.0 TFSI turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine goes from a respectable 231 horsepower and 273 lb-ft. of torque, stock all the way up to 310 horsepower and 325 lb-ft. of torque. This comes as a result of the ABT Power New Generation engine tuning and dramatically improves performance for such a small car.
With the mighty 2.0 TFSI pumping out more power, ABT Sportsline then made sure the wheels and chassis could handle the added performance. The suspension benefits from a new set of ABT sport springs that lower the overall ride height by 30 mm for a better center of gravity and sharper handling through corners. The factory wheels are replaced with a set of ABT DR- and Z5 wheel designs with the former being offered in gunmetal while the latter is a one-piece cast aluminum wheel with titanium matte finish. The wheels are installed in a bigger 8.0 x 18 ET30/35 setup at the front and rear and wear 225/50 R18 sport tires for added grip.
ABT Sportsline also offers a few subtle upgrades for the interior and exterior of the Audi S1 to finish things off. The interior can be given a new set of floor mats and integrated entrance light to make things a bit more welcoming. The lone visual upgrade for the body is a fender insert that lends a more athletic look to the S1.
All of the new Audi S1 upgrades from ABT Sportsline are currently available as a complete package or individually to create a custom hot hatch. Pricing has not been released.
