A 330d without performance lag.
European car enthusiasts tend to hold diesel engines in higher regard due to their high torque numbers and good fuel economy. They also have a soft spot for wagons because of their increased capabilities. This is why the BBM Motorsport E91 BMW 330d is likely to be a European car enthusiast’s wet dream.
The factory 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel engine comes straight from the factory with a healthy 242 bhp and 384 lb-ft. of torque while returning good fuel economy numbers. BBM Motorsport took the torque output to astonishing levels with a new chip tuning software upgrade that was designed using the company’s Dynojet 224xLC performance test platform. A full Supersprint exhaust system and Pipercross air intake allows for better airflow and a reduction in backpressure. The result is an E91 BMW 330d that churns out an asphalt-destroying 274 horsepower and 634 lb-ft. of torque.
Handling such an earth-moving amount of torque is no easy task, but BBM Motorsport was able to come up with a solution. All of the factory wheels were replaced with new BBS CH-R wheels in a wider 8.0 x 19 and 9.0 x 19 front and rear setup with 225/35 and 225/30 sport tires for a larger footprint and more grip. The entire E91 BMW 330d was then equipped with a full KW Street Comfort coilover suspension that doesn’t negatively affect ride quality but improves handling dynamics.
The BBM Motorsport BMW 330d was then given a visual makeover. The German company enlisted the help of SFT Carwrap that gave the wagon a matte red wrap with matte black accents and company logos throughout while the interior was given matte red highlights as well. To match the scheme, the BMW logos and side markers were given a dark tint.
FM-Coding then got to work on the electronic and lighting system on the 330d. The company installed side markers and daytime running lights on the exterior. Inside is a new digital speed display system and a comfort eject function that automatically ejects the key when the ‘engine off’ button is pressed.
All of the upgrades featured on the BBM Motorsport E91 330d are currently available as a complete package or as individual accessories. The company has also released a video showcasing the exhaust note of the diesel wagon.
