JE Design VW Touareg Exposed

JE Design Touareg

The Touareg flexes its muscles with a new widebody kit and gobs of diesel torque.

Volkswagen’s second-generation Touareg made its debut in February of 2010 in Munich and showcased the company’s plan to make their lineup more efficient and green. The new Touareg grew only slightly in its overall dimensions, but also shed a few hundred pounds, leading to better fuel economy. JE Design decided to flaunt the new Touareg’s larger proportions by creating a widebody kit with a lowered suspension and new wheels. The JE Design Touareg isn’t all show and no go; the German tuners also optimized the 4.2-liter diesel engine to crank out over 400 horsepower.

JE Design’s widebody kit gives the new Touareg a more conspicuous character with its powerful dimensions and revised Polyurethane (PU) bodywork. Up front the Touareg shows off a more distinct face with a new sports radiator grille that eliminates the large “VW” badge, a new front spoiler, and additional headlights. The bigger muscles come from the front and rear wheel arch kit, which gives the Touareg additional road presence. The rear sports a new apron insert to accommodate new exhaust tips, a more prominent roof spoiler, and rear hatch. The widebody kit has been developed to fit the new Touareg even with the premium packages as well as the pivot-trailer hitch.

The more muscular Touareg is further enhanced with a set of more distinct wheels and a lowered suspension for a more intimidating appearance. Wide 10 x 22 “SUV-Select” aluminum wheels are fitted to the front and rear and can be optioned with 30 mm front and 40 mm rear wheel spacers for a powerful look. The five-spoke wheels are available in four finishes: shadow silver with a polished front surface, matte black with a matte silver front surface, graphite shiny silver with polished rim, and matte graphite silver with polished rim. Customers also have the option to order the 22-inch wheels in a custom finish. The complete wheel package is available for € 5190 (+/- 6,600 USD), while single wheels are available for € 690 (+/- 880 USD). Along with the wheel package JE Design also offers a pneumatic electronic suspension lowering module for € 1428 (+/- 1,800 USD) that lowers the Touareg by 35 mm.

To back up the JE Design Touareg’s bite, the German tuners have optimized the ECU for the 4.2-liter diesel V-8 engine. Making 340 horsepower and 590 lb-ft. stock, the Touareg is capable of sprinting to 62 mph in just 5.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 150 mph. With the optimized ECU, the turbodiesel is able to produce 410 horsepower and a monstrous 686 lb-ft. of torque. This allows for a quick 5.4-second 0-62 dash, and a 167-mph top speed. The ECU tune is available for € 2999 (+/- 3,800 USD) and comes standard with a one-year powertrain warranty that can be extended to two years for € 199 (+/- 250 USD).

The JE Design widebody kit and engine optimization program is currently available as a complete package for € 19,750 (+/- 25,000 USD). Customers can also order the widebody kit separately for € 4998 (+/- 6,300 USD). JE Design offers individual accessories for customers that want a custom look for their new Touareg.
