Lamborghini Will Reveal A 100th Anniversary super car at Geneva

Stephan Winkelmann has confirmed that Lamborghini has indeed been planning a special model for 2016 to celebrate what would have been founder Ferruccio Lamborghini’s 100th birthday. In an interview with Auto Express, the Lamborghini CEO confirmed the existence of such a model, along with when it will be revealed. “We will unveil a car in Geneva. In terms of renderings, it is known to the customers already,” the CEO said. The new model was shown to customers at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

There was speculation that the Centenario (the unofficial name) would be based on the Huracan. Winkelmann dismissed such an idea outright. “That’s unthinkable. The car we will show will be a completely different design from both Huracan and Aventador.” A Lamborghini insider who spoke anonymously to Auto Express said the Centenario will be “beautiful and not as extreme as you might expect.”

In terms of driving charachteristics, Winkelmnn said: “It is a car which is covering the best balance between tradition and innovation, because we are speaking about performance, design, weight, aerodynamics and also the chassis in terms of adaptability control”. He didn’t get into engine specs or pricing. Currently the most powerful product in the lineup is the Aventador SV with a 6.5-liter V12 which cranks out a ridiculous 740 horsepower and 509 lb-ft. of torque. In terms of pricing, $600,000 is the going rate for high-end Lambos these days. Lets’ start from there, shall we?
