Mauro Calo sets a new World Record for Longest Drift in a C63 AMG

A mile-and-a-half of burning rubber.

As automotive enthusiasts we all love to burn a little rubber and kick the rear end out for a little controlled drift. Mauro Calo however, likes to take it to the next level.

On june 19th at Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey, England, Calo set out to break the World Record for the Longest Drift in a 480-horsepower C63 AMG around the circular handling circuit. Calo, who is also part of the highly skilled Silver Arrows Display team, was able to break the existing record by 394 meters, setting a new World Record of 2,308 meters (1.434 miles). Upon completion of the drift, he was presented with a plaque from Guinness World Records to officially recognize his accomplishment.

“When Mauro approached us to hold his record breaking attempt on the circuit at Mercedes-Benz World we were happy to offer him the support,” said Andrew Mallery, Commercial Operations Director for Mercedes-Benz Cars. “He has been a valuable member of the driving experience team for several years and is a respected driver in the industry, so there was no doubt he would achieve his aim”.

Luckily, a few fans were able to capture the event on video.
