Force-fed fun time!

Throughout its entire history, the Porsche 911 Carrera models boasted naturally-aspirated flat-six engines. That all changed with the newest generation of models that now feature twin-turbocharged engines. While that has ruffled the feathers of true purists, companies such as McChip-DKR are having quite a bit of fun.

The subject for McChip-DKR’s newest range of upgrades was a second-gen 991 Porsche 911 Carrera S with the 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged flat-six engine. After some serious fine-tuning using their SuperFlow AWD dynamometer type SF880, Managing Director, Danny Kubasik, and the rest of the team were able to unlock some of the sports car’s potential in two stages of upgrades.

Stage 1 for the second-gen 991 Porsche 911 Carrera S involves a full software ECU tune that pushes output to 475 horsepower and 420 lb-ft. of torque, up from 420 horsepower and 368 lb-ft. of torque, stock. All that costs a mere 2,499 euros.

For Stage 2, McChip-DKR equips the 911 Carrera S with a new exhaust system including integrated valves and Capristo catalytic converters. After a software tune, the engine creates 485 horsepower and 431 lb-ft. of torque, for just 8,349 euros.

With the Porsche 911 being all about driver engagement, McChip-DKR was able to deliver a greater sense of control and performance thanks to a PDK gearbox optimization program. The software enforces gearshifts like the 911 GT3 and 911 Turbo models also results in a higher engine speed, faster shifting, and higher clutch pressure for 1,490 euros. The new upgrade is also available for all Cayman, Boxster, and 911 models with PDK gearboxes.
