Celebrating 50 years with power and exclusivity.

It’s been 50 years since Enzo Ferrari told Ferruccio Lamborghini to basically screw off and that he could not be bothered with a tractor manufacturer. As bad as it sounds, we’re glad that he did, because that meeting helped to create the Lamborghini brand. In its 50 years since then, the company has produced some iconic models and endured some good times and some bad, but today they are just as strong as ever and are celebrating their 50-year history with the new Aventador LP 720-4 50° Anniversario.

The new Aventador LP 720-4 50° Anniversario made its debut at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show and promises to be one of the most exclusive models that the Italian automaker has ever produced. Limited to just 100 units around the globe, the new super car boasts a fantastic array of unique bits and pieces that make it a very special automobile.

To start things off, the 6.5-liter V-12 engine that churns out an additional 20 horsepower than the standard Aventador model. The total output of 720 horsepower comes as a result of a newly calibrated engine, that still sends power though the ultra-fast seven-speed ISR transmission. This enables the super car to reach 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds and travel to a top speed of 217.5 mph (350 km/h).

Although there are a few extra bulls behind the driver in the Aventador LP 720-4 50° Anniversario, the most eye-catching aspect of the car is easily its new exterior design. The Lamborghini designers revised numerous aspects of the super car to ensure maximum stability without increasing drag and would up giving the Aventador a 50-percent improvement in aerodynamic efficiency over the standard model. This comes thanks to a new front end that wears extended intakes and splitter with small flaps on each side for better downforce and cooling properties. The rear-end features a new design that incorporates a large mesh fascia and elongated diffuser to improve engine cooling and keep the rear planted at high speeds.

But the new design doesn’t end there. Customers are treated to an exclusive Giallo Maggio (May Yellow) paint that pays homage to the most popular color amongst Lamborghini customers since the Miura and points to the month that the automaker was founded in 1963. The new color features a transparent layer of highly reflective particles that adds a vivid glitter effect. Much of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 720-4 50° Anniversario wears a two-tone color scheme that includes matte black components at the front, rear, and sides to showcase the slim, wedge-shape of the super car and its dynamic performance. The final touch is a set of wheels painted gloss black to complement the two-tone scheme. Customers also have the choice of any color imaginable thanks to the automaker’s Ad Personam program.
