“We are leading, others are following.”
That’s the quote that drives the team at PP-Performance in Weissbach, Germany, and their vehicles follow suit, quite literally. The latest to showcase this is the 991 Porsche 911 Turbo with its record-setting ¼-mile time thanks to some good ol’ fashioned tuning.
The big, bad Porsche 911 Turbo isn’t a slow poke at all from the factory. Its twin-turbocharged flat-six engine churns out the power to all four wheels for loads of grip at the starting line, but it just wasn’t enough for the goals PP-Performance had in mind. Instead, it was the perfect starting point.
The German tuner gave the flat-six engine a new PP-Performance Digital Racing Box that adjusts a number of parameters for the engine electronically, a new IPD intake plenum, BMC high-performance air filters, and a full exhaust system with downpipes, three-to-one headers, and x-pipe. That equates to a whopping 670 horsepower and 605 lb-ft. of torque.
Armed with some beastly performance figures, the PP-Performance Porsche 911 Turbo is capable of accelerating to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. That’s on par with the Bugatti Veyron. The sprint to 120 mph takes a mere 8.2 seconds as well.
But where the PP-Performance Porsche 911 Turbo really left its mark was the drag strip. Here, the supercar flew through the quarter-mile with a record-setting 9.8-second time.
The full engine upgrade package from PP-Performance will set you back a cool 11,999 Euros and set you in a league of your own on the drag strip.
