The 997.2 GT3 gets some REIL performance.
MR Car Design has introduced a new performance line to its portfolio – REIL Performance. The offshoot of the German company focuses on tuning and performance products for European cars. While MR Car Design has since changed the names all of the previous tuning programs to showcase the new performance arm, the first car to be tuned by REIL Performance is the Porsche 997.2 911 GT3.
The track focused model of the 911 lineup was the starting point for REIL Performance. The tuner gave the 911 GT3 a few engine upgrades to make the car faster without turning it into an uncontrollable horsepower monster. The stock exhaust system was replaced with a meaner, free-flowing Akrapovic system with damper control system designed specifically for the naturally-aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine of the GT3. REIL Performance then installed a new ECU chip that boosted output to 455 horsepower.
Because the Porsche 911 GT3 is designed specifically for track duty, REIL Performance focused on improving the car’s overall handling. The entire GT3 was lowered to improve the center of gravity and give it precise handling through the corners. The upgraded suspension also comes complete with a HLS kit that raises the ride height to avoid obstacles.
As far as aesthetic upgrades go, the German tuner kept the exterior and wheels stock, save for a few REIL Performance exterior decals to showcase the new MR Car Design performance arm. All of the modifications for the 997.2 911 GT3 are currently available from REIL Performance. Pricing has not been released.
