The Widebody RENNtech C74 Exposed

DTM-inspired style.

For a number of years Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) has featured two German automakers: Audi and Mercedes-Benz. The fierce competition between the two has led to advancements in technology and performance for both marques, and recently has inspired legendary Mercedes-Benz tuner, RENNtech, to develop a new aerodynamic conversion kit for the C63 AMG.

The full kit, named the C74 after the width of the rear track, gives the current generation (2007-present) C63 AMG a distinct athletic and bold character that is reminiscent of the DTM C-Class racecars. Made from high-strength and lightweight pre-preg, autoclaved carbon fiber, the conversion kit fits directly onto the exterior of the C63, with most parts requiring no additional body modifications. Finished in either gloss or matte, the RENNtech C74 conversion kit allows owners to create an individual automobile.

The entire RENNtech C74 kit adds a number of different aerodynamic bodywork that not only increases downforce, but adds traction for increased performance. Up front a new splitter is fitted to the bumper along with broader fender flares. The rear receives more aerodynamic modifications with a new trunk spoiler and rear diffuser to improve downforce, while new exhaust tips add to the muscular appearance. The most notable aspect of the conversion is the wide rear track that has been extended to 74 inches. This allows for customers to fit wheels up to 11 inches wide and run a 315-series tire, vastly improving handling and traction.

Although the C63 AMG comes stock with a potent 6.2-liter V-8, customers also have the option to back up the powerful looks from the C74 conversion kit with a host of performance upgrades from RENNtech. Customers can purchase a number of different engine upgrade packages ranging from an ECU upgrade that raises power to 475 horsepower, to a full on package that includes an ECU tune, airbox, headers, and sound pipe modification for a monstrous 555 horsepower. To handle the increased power, RENNtech also offers a 100-percent locking limited-slip differential.

The RENNtech C74 conversion kit can be purchased as a whole for 15,450 USD. Customers can also purchase the Aerodynamic Package for 11,950 USD, which excludes the front widebody kit. Individual components, wheels, brake, and interior upgrades are also available from RENNtech Mercedes for a custom appearance.
