Breaking into the 900-club.
While the high-revving Ferrari 458 Italia was quite the naturally-aspirated super car, the new 488 GTB packs quite a hefty punch along with some serious potential. That potential has tuning companies drooling and the team at Vision of Speed has taken full advantage with their new VOS Project 9x Ferrari 488 GTB.
The new twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V-8 may be down on displacement, but it’s up in power compared to its predecessor. VOS Performance was also more than happy to develop three different tuning programs for the engine, giving owners the ability to go absolutely insane with power.
In Stage 1, the VOS Performance Project 9x Ferrari 488 GTB gets pushed to 750 horsepower and 597 lb-ft. of torque. Stage 2 packs even more of a punch with a total of 830 horsepower and 634 lb-ft. of torque. In the top Stage 3 package, output grows to an insane 900 horsepower and 670 lb-ft. of torque. This comes from a new software management system, optimized air intake, and different VOS Performance exhaust systems that can include new downpipes and/or 200-cell catalytic converters. In May, a new Titan exhaust developed in collaboration with Akrapovic will be available for those that want the best in sound.
Handling 900 horsepower isn’t an easy task, but the new LOMA forged wheels are up for the challenge. The VOS Performance Project 9x is outfitted with 9.0 x 21 front and 12.0 x 21 rear LOMA forged alloy wheels strapped with 255/35/21 front and 325/25/21 rear Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires for added grip. Finishing it all off are new H&R sport springs that reduce the ride height by 35 mm for an extremely low center of gravity.
Visually, the VOS Performance Project 9x focused on giving the Ferrari 488 GTB a sexy but subtle carbon fiber aerodynamic suit. New carbon fiber covers and diffuser fins are used in both rear fenders and with the air outlets next to each taillight. Carbon fiber makes up the front spoiler lip and vertical bars in the bumper for a striking stare. Each mirror is has a carbon fiber top cover while new side skirts redirect air away from the rear wheels. The rear bumper benefits from a new lower diffuser and a fixed monobloc spoiler wing to improve high speed stability.
All of the parts featured on the new VOS Performance Project 9x Ferrari 488 GTB are made with quality German engineering and construction. The new model will be on display to the public at the 2016 TuningWorld Bodensee from May 5th to 8th.
