The Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang is everything that you could ever want in a muscle car and then some. The Voodoo V-8 and its flat-plane crankshaft takes performance to the next level as does its upgraded chassis, braking, and aerodynamics. Hennessey Performance was able to make the naturally-aspirated monster even more diabolical with their HPE575 upgrade package.
At the center of the HPE575 package is the 5.2-liter V-8 and its motorsport-oriented flat-plane crankshaft. Hennessey Performance didn’t go all-out by upgrading the internal hardware, but instead opted to optimize the exhaust-gas flow. A full exhaust system comprised of 1.75-inch stainless steel headers, a mid-pipe, and high-flow catalytic converters help to reduce backpressure to a point that benefits the flow of exhaust gasses for more power. A full ECU tune and dyno testing completes the upgrade and results in a thundering 575 bhp at 7,700 RPM and 511 lb-ft. of torque at 4,600 RPM for the high-revving engine.
As part of the HPE575 package, the Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang was given serial numbered and signed plaques in the engine bay and interior with one bearing the signature of the HPE technician who worked on the engine and the other of John Hennessey, respectively. New exterior badging at the side and rear shows the Mustang’s new high-performance additions just in case the muscle car hasn’t been started up.
The HPE575 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang also includes a lifetime membership in the Hennessey Vehicle Registry (HVR) and a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. The mail-order parts kit can be purchased for $4,995 plus shipping while the installed kit with warranty is priced at $6,950 plus vehicle shipping. The HPE575 upgrade for the Ford Performance Shelby GT350 Mustang will be limited to just 100 units for the 2016 model year.
