The first rendering of the Corvette Stingray C7.R

Corvette Stingray C7.R Rendering

Get ready ALMS.

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C7) has had the sheets ripped off of it in Detroit and it’s taking the automotive world by storm. It has all sorts of new features, technology, and of course, POWER! While the new sheetmetal and carbon fiber are still shining in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show, Arist, Jon Sibal, has already taken it into racing form.

Now, usually with sports cars the automaker unveils the base model followed by one or two performance, convertible, or drivetrain variations months after the original introduction of the car. Down the line there’s usually a high-performance version and a racing version. Sibal didn’t want to wait and went to the drawing board to create what he believes the new C7.R will look once the current C6.R is retired from the American Le Mans Series.

What can we expect? Well, even though this is just a rendering, it does have many things that will likely be featured on the new C7.R under the Corvette Racing team. New front and rear spoilers made out of carbon fiber help generate tremendous amounts of downforce, a full carbon fiber body will reduce weight and be dressed in gloss black livery. A side-mounted exhaust will spit out fumes between a set of lightweight, center-locking wheels. We’re not sure what’s going to power this bad boy, but you can expect it to be fierce when Chevrolet does finally unveil the Corvette Stingray C7.R.
